Whitey Johnson is a legendary blues artist from Texas, now living in Tennessee and touring worldwide.
There are many versions of Whitey´s story, but one known fact is that his alternate persona known as Gary Nicholson has written songs that have been recorded by many of the greatest artists in blues and roots music including BB King, Etta James, Bonnie Raitt, Buddy Guy, Delbert McClinton, Keb Mo, Greg Allman, Irma Thomas, the Neville Brothers, Gatemouth Brown, Arthur Alexander, John Mayall, James Cotton, Junior Wells, Jimmy Witherspoon, The Blues Brothers, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Marcia Ball, and so many others. He has produced two Grammy winning records for Delbert McClinton (who has recorded over forty of his songs) in the "Best Contemporary Blues" category.
Whitey calls his music "Feel Better Blues" with songs such as "Use the Blues to Make You Feel Better" and "Upside of Lonely" His song "Worry be Gone" was recently recorded as a duet by Willie Nelson and Kenny Chesney, and his song"Skin Deep" is the title of the current Buddy Guy record that recently won Blues Record of the Year and Best Artist at the Handy Awards in Memphis.

The concert will be February 4 at the Trinity United Methodist Church Orchard House on Route 45, four miles from the four-way stop in Shepherdstown.
The show will be preceded by a one-hour open mic where performers do two songs for an appreciative, listening audience. Doors open for social time and open mic sign-up at 7:30 p.m.
Enjoy a great evening of music and fellowship. First Friday is rapidly gaining a reputation as one of the areas best open mic and listening venues. Jon is proud to be the featured March performer in a monthly "unplugged" concert held held at the historic sanctuary of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Loudoun located along rolling fields of Gleedsville Rd. just south of Leesburg. Leesburg is some 35 miles west of Washington DC near the Bull Run Mountain and Potomac River. The concerts are held on the 2nd Saturday monthly. The 100-year old church is an intimate and pristine acoustic environment with warm wood floors and a cozy ambience, much like a house concert.

immigration. The dozen tracks are mostly penned by the artists, with a
peppering of choice tunes written by Dave Alvin, Robert Hunter, and Bob
Dylan. The CD comes to a close with a group sing/medley of three of
the most famous and well-loved protest songs including lost verses of
"this Land Is Your Land" which were considered, at one time, too
controversial and hence banned from being released.
All of the Azalea musicians who appear on the Sampler will be
performing at the CD release concert, including Joe Uehlein (U-Liners),
Jesse Palidofsky, Zoe Mulford, Ruth Logsdon (Ruthie and the Wranglers),
Seth Kibel, Carey Creed, Karen Collins, Jon Carroll, and Laura Baron.
There will be some fresh collaboration among these artists; for
example, the women will be harmonizing together as a group for the
first time; each of them has a distinctive sound, whether it be
Americana, roots rock, Brazilian jazz, or traditional folk, yet their
voices melt together like maple syrup and butter. On stage there will
be some cross-pollination of instrumentalists—some of the best in the
region--among the individual acts as well.

GRAMMY-nominated artists, multiple WAMMIE winners and award-winning

At only 12 years old, singer-songwriter and rocker Margot MacDonald released her debut album, Rising, and her sophomore album, Torn, at 15. Now 17 years old, she is the winner of the "Young Artist Award" from the Mid-Atlantic Song Contest and "New Artist of the Year" from the Washington Area Music Association.

It´s a day-long musical celebration of the life of former Fredericksburg resident and musician Bill "DooDah" Robinson, who died in December of complications from an accident. On Aug. 10 from noon to 8 p.m., musicians, friends and others will gather at the Pirates Den in Fairview Beach on the Potomac River for an afternoon of free local music. The group, which has solicited donations to cover expenses, is a collection of musicians who played with Robinson and others in bands centered on James Monroe High School and other local schools back in the ´60s and beyond. The JM class of 1968, holding a reunion that weekend, has included the DooDah celebration in its schedule. Organizers expect the celebration to draw a crowd in the hundreds. Bands expected to play include The Culprits, The Sunday Times, The Royals, The Blues Machine (one of Jon´s 1st bands in Fredericksburg, Va), The Cavaliers Band, The Lisa Lim Band, The Bunko Steers, The Recliner Cats, The Barrel Groove Blues Band, and the DOODAH House band. 12-8p and FREE

A national tribute to the legendary singer-songwriter Rick Nelson will be held Sunday November 18, 2007, at the Avalon Theater in Washington DC at 8:00 pm.
The tribute is a fundraiser for a documentary-in-progress on Nelson´s life and presenting a first autobiographical look at him through his own words and music.
Tickets are $30 and can be purchased at www.gypsypilot.com or www.two-moons.com.

DIRECTIONS: Take the beltway to Rt 123 towards Vienna that turns into Maple Ave. You will pass a Giant Shopping Center, Safeway go through the light after the Safeway and the Town Green will be on the right directly across from Whole Foods. Take a right onto Mill St.You can also get on Rt 123 towards Vienna from Rt 66. In that case the Town Green will be on the left and Whole Foods will be on the right.
